Dean: Thomas Lappas, Ph.D.
The College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, Business, and Education at Nazareth University consists of many distinct but complementary academic programs that work together to create a valuable and enriching experience for students. It is comprised of 10 liberal arts and sciences departments, two schools, and over 40 individual and interdisciplinary undergraduate majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, education, and business. The Frontier Center for Urban Education; The Hickey Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue; The Institute for Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Society; The Konar Center for Tolerance and Jewish Studies; and the Center for Public History are located within this College.
Faculty and students in the College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, Business, and Education are engaged both in focused major programs, and also with an innovative undergraduate core curriculum. Through teaching, research, and creative work, faculty foster an environment where students explore enduring questions about the human condition, and gain skills and knowledge that prepare them to live and work across a lifetime. Students develop the habits of mind of thoughtful, adaptable, creative, and productive human beings.
College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, Business, and Education students prepare for future professional and personal success by stretching their intellectual boundaries on campus and off. They may take classes in a wide array of areas from Environmental Science to Economics, from Literacy to Languages, from Biochemistry to Business, and from Special Education to Sociology. Applying this learning in internships, student teaching, presentations, student clubs and trips, service settings, as well as through a rich array of opportunities to study abroad, they develop global and cultural competency–a broad understanding of the world in which they live in all of its dimensions.
Students learn to read closely, think analytically from problem to solution, reflect on practice, and to write for multiple audiences, situations and purposes. When they leave Nazareth, students from the College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, Business, and Education are professionals in the best sense of the word: scientists, historians, communicators, mathematicians, anthropologists, psychologists, educators, business professionals, leaders and citizens imbued with the skills to work, to live, and to serve.
School of Business and Leadership
The mission of the School of Business and Leadership (SBL) is to help students develop the competence and confidence to achieve their personal and professional goals. This is accomplished through dedicated faculty and learner-centered programs. We believe the achievement of the mission will produce an independent thinker and an informed decision-maker who contributes sustainable value for organizations, society, and themselves.
SBL offers undergraduate majors in accounting, business, artificial intelligence and innovation, business leadership, digital marketing strategy, finance, marketing, and sports, entertainment, and arts management. In addition to the major programs, students may pursue minors in accounting, business, artificial intelligence, and innovation, digital marketing, economics, finance, marketing, and sports, entertainment, and arts management. Students pursue internships in a field consistent with their academic and professional interests and earn academic credit while gaining valuable work experience with a local, national or global organization. Non-SBL majors may minor in business leadership or another one of the SBL minors available.
The School of Business and Leadership holds membership in the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).
