The B.F.A. in Theatre Performance is a pre-professional degree in acting with an emphasis on developing the skills necessary for the working artist of the theater. Our training however, places equal value on the holistic view that a liberal arts-based education is by definition required for a young artist. Our faculty considers critical, analytical, and independent thinking as essential skills for the creative person. Training at Nazareth takes place in small studio classes with an emphasis on individualized attention and faculty mentoring of student growth.
At Nazareth, training in theatre performance is about learning the art of collaboration by interaction with fellow artists, peers, colleagues, teachers, and working professionals, as well as fostering a lifelong appreciation for the theater arts.
As part of the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting pre-professional degree, students are required to complete a Jury during the second semester of their sophomore year. Students who pass this jury will be permitted to continue in the BFA Acting program. Students who fail will be recommended an alternate degree program in which to continue.
