Honors Program - Interdisciplinary Minor

Return to: College of Arts and Sciences
Honors at Nazareth College offers academically gifted students the opportunity to broaden and deepen their educational experience through emphasis on an interdisciplinary perspective.
Students take foundational courses in writing (Written and Visual Rhetoric), critical thinking (PHL.Q Philosophical Inquiry) and interdisciplinary methodology (Honors Orientation) during the freshman year, and are then encouraged to take elective courses that will culminate in a thesis project tailored to each students’ academic interests and career goals. Study abroad, internships, service projects, and shared scholarship with faculty members are encouraged, as are other types of experiential learning.
A mid-program progress assessment will be conducted by the Honors Faculty. The minor culminates in a thesis, advised by faculty members of the student’s choice and defended publicly. Honors students must maintain a 3.5 GPA, and attend Honors-sponsored events, shared scholarship nights, and special lectures during the academic year.
