Three concentrations are available within the studio art major. All concentrations require foundation courses in Design and Drawing, Art History Survey I and II, 20th Century Art, Issues in Art and a Comprehensive Examination.

Concentrations are available in the following areas:
1. Studio
In Ceramics, Jewelry and Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture. Requires a total minimum of 42 credit hours in art studio courses. 2. Art Education
NYS Initial Certification in Art Birth-12. Requires an introductory course in painting, ceramics, computer fundamentals, printmaking and four studio electives. In addition, art education students are required to take Art education courses that follow. Several of these courses also require pre-service field hours and student teaching in area schools. Prior to taking Art 354 students must complete the Bloodborne Pathogen Training. Required Art Education courses:

3. Graphics/Illustration
Requires a minimum of nine upper division courses in graphics/illustration areas and a total of 42 credit hours in art studio courses. Transfer Students
Students transferring into the Art Department from other schools and majoring in Studio Art (including Art Education) must have at least a 3.0 average and must complete the following courses at Nazareth: All Foundation Studios
(not yet taken): All Art History Courses
(not yet taken): Upper Division Studio Courses
Five upper division studio courses and Art 365. This may result in credits earned for courses taken at a previous school not being used toward graduation. Studio Art Sample Program
