PTR 627 - Evaluation & Intervention - Persons with Musculoskeletal Problems

This course prepares the student to evaluate

and treat common disorders of the

musculosketal system. The patient management

model, as presented in the “Guide to Physical

Therapist Practice”, will serve as a framework

for course content related to patient care.

General examination methods presented in PTR 524

will be applied specifically to extremity joint

function. The student will conduct a comprehensive

physical examination, including the case history,

review of systems, and assessment of impairments

and functional limitations. Emphasis will be

placed on clinical decision-making and diagnostic

process, leading to the development of a plan of

care and selection of evidence-based

interventions will be introduced, which will

include joint mobilization, muscle energy

techniques, soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic

stretching and therapeutic exercise.
