PTR 627 - Evaluation & Intervention - Persons with Musculoskeletal Problems
This
course prepares the student to evaluate
|
and
treat common disorders of the
|
musculosketal
system. The patient management
|
model,
as presented in the “Guide to Physical
|
Therapist
Practice”, will serve as a framework
|
for
course content related to patient care.
|
General
examination methods presented in PTR 524
|
will
be applied specifically to extremity joint
|
function.
The student will conduct a comprehensive
|
physical
examination, including the case history,
|
review
of systems, and assessment of impairments
|
and
functional limitations. Emphasis will be
|
placed
on clinical decision-making and diagnostic
|
process,
leading to the development of a plan of
|
care
and selection of evidence-based
|
interventions
will be introduced, which will
|
include
joint mobilization, muscle energy
|
techniques,
soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic
|
stretching
and therapeutic exercise.
