The mathematics major is designed for students who want a solid mathematical background for a broad range of career options, including industry and graduate work. Many math majors have minors or double majors. This program consists of 40 credits of mathematics, including Calculus III, Real Analysis, and Abstract Algebra. Students also take two semesters of physics (calculus-based) and one semester of a programming language.
Students are officially accepted into the mathematics major after completion of MTH 201, Introduction to Mathematical Structures, with a grade of C or better. All mathematics majors must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, both in the major and overall.
