In order to meet the 9 credits required in the electives, candidates can take credits in one of the special focus areas listed below, as well as courses from the areas of Inclusive Early Childhood Education or Literacy.
For candidates who are employed in their additional certification level, the candidate can choose to complete a job-embedded practicum (internship certificate) as one of their electives.
Candidates will select a sequence of courses in consultation with their advisor.
- Literacy Education Electives (9 credits)

- Annotation: Students with Severe or Multiple Disabilities (6 credits)

DASA/Bullying Workshop
Per NYS requirements, all candidates in teacher certification programs must show completion of this mandated workshop. Candidates pursuing additional/professional certification must have this in place either through a workshop that is verified on TEACH, or through a completed state-approved course linked to their initial certification program.
