Music History - Minor

The Music History Minor is available to all students, but those enrolled in degree programs within the School of Music are especially encouraged to pursue it. With 18 credits, this minor offers an opportunity for students to explore an additional passion for music history through a variety of courses, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the discipline and its intersections with other fields.

Students will consult with their advisor to choose an appropriate mix of classes to complete this 18-credit minor.

MUS 211 - The History of Western Music I: Antiquity to the Baroque Period Credits: 3
MUS 212 - The History of Western Music II: The Baroque Period to the Late Nineteenth Century Credits: 3
MUS 317 - The History of Western Music III: Music Since 1900 Credits: 3
In the event that students are granted exemptions from any of the above core courses, they may substitute upper-division courses in their place.
