To support student health and wellness, the University and the Department of Athletics offer a wide variety of classes each semester. Offerings include CPR, Yoga, Hiking/Canoeing, Individual Fitness, Ballroom-Tap-Ballet Dancing, Aerobics, Swimming, various Dance styles, and more. See online class listings to view term-specific offerings - search for the HW attribute in NazNet.

Health & Wellness Requirement

As part of the Core Curriculum, and required to earn a degree, all students must complete one approved Health & Wellness course/experience (credit bearing or non-credit bearing). Transfer students who have not met the requirement elsewhere, including those with associate degrees, must also satisfy this requirement.

There are a variety of ways to meet this requirement. All physical education (PED) courses count, but there are other options as well, including taking a Yoga wellness class, participating on an athletic team, or completing a course that has been designated as a Health & Wellness course (select HW attribute in NazNet). Substitutions for meeting the Health & Wellness requirement may be made with the approval of the Director of the Core Curriculum on a petition form, found on the Registration and Records website. Note - any student who has completed CPR (not associated with a Nazareth class) will need to email a copy of their certificate to the office of Registration and Records in order to have the Health & Wellness requirement fulfilled.
