LST 301 - Language and Literacy Development Literacy is more than the ability to read and write; it is a culturally-embedded practice imbued with social and political values that are highly contested. This course provides a broad foundation in language and literacy development grounded in socio-cultural, sociolinguistic, and socio-cognitive theories. Through story, research, and theoretical readings, students will explore how language practices are connected to identity, social and cultural influences, learning, technology, and academic disciplines.
