HIS 317 - Strange Brew: Alcohol, Temperance, and Gender in U.S. History This course examines the many ways in which America’s economic, political, and cultural history has been affected by the manufacture, sale and consumption of alcohol. We will pay special attention to the way that gender roles have been shaped by this history and the particularly strong role that women have played in U.S. temperance movements. Course Codes: BP.
