PSC 301 - PII American Government and Politics


(Perspectives II course) These are exciting and challenging times for our nation and this course is designed to give students a broad and critical understanding of the institutions and processes of American politics. The course is divided into four parts. The first part overviews the structure of American politics and contrasts it with political systems of other modern democratic nations. The second part examines some of the most important political processes, including the structuring of political participation and the formation of public opinion. The third part of the course looks at the three branches of federal government and the concluding portion explores selected issues in American politics and policy.
