INEC 511 - Curriculum and Methodology for Inclusive Early Childhood Education in Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering


This course combines a study of the function and organization of the early childhood-level mathematics, science, technology and engineering curriculum and the integration of curriculum, with a survey of current teaching resources and research-based strategies to address the learning needs of diverse learners. Students will study the development of content skills and concepts through the use of manipulatives and abstract materials, with emphasis on the intuitive and inquiry methods, as per New York State Learning Standards,NCTM, ASCD and NAEYC. 20 hours of fieldwork required for initial certification. 15 hours of fieldwork required for additional certification. Prerequisites: INCL 501, INCL 502 and INEC 510 OR INCL 601, INCL 602 and INEC 510.
