DAN 212 - Introduction to Modern Dance


This course explores Modern dance, framed through anatomical knowledge, movement theory, kinesthetic awareness, and somatics, and introduces the student to the aesthetic, historical and cultural context which birthed this genre of dance. This course will develop the student’s understanding of a spectrum of contemporary movement styles and somatic approaches, as well as viable career pathways in the field; in addition, students will complete research in the history of Modern Dance, readings, writing, and synthesize theory components. Course Codes: ACR. Health & Wellness Course. Course open only to Dance majors and minors; open to other students after registration week with permission of Program Director or Instructor.
