INCH 310 - Differentiated Planning and Assessment For Diverse Learners


(DEIB) This course is designed to build understandings of learning theories and strategies that address the range of learners in classrooms, including children with disabilities and culturally and/or linguistically diverse students. There is an emphasis on developing skills of pre-service teacher candidates to utilize Universal Design for Learning to design differentiated curriculum, instruction, and assessment that enhances the learning of all students. The course emphasizes social-emotional development, as well as strength-based and whole child approaches to learning. It is taught in an elementary school and with a requirement of 60 total hours of field work. Must be taken concurrently with INCH 320. Course Codes: AFHL. Prerequisite: SPF*204 or equivalent course. Corequisite: INCH*320. 4 hrs/wk field work in site location in addition to class. DEIB designated course. Must be accepted in the Inclusive Early Childhood/Childhood Education major to register for this course. Allow for 30 minutes travel time from the Nazareth campus; candidates provide their own transportation. Course meets on campus for the first two to three weeks of the semester, then at a site based location for the rest of the semester.
