SWK 323 - Understanding Mental Health from a Wellness Perspective Employs the systems perspective to examine the etiology of mental health disorders, the psychosocial dimensions and coping strategies of those diagnosed with mental health disorders according to the DSM-5TR. Promotes critical analysis of cultural influences including oppressive factors shaping the determination of health and mental health, and the environmental factors relevant to the formation and classification of mental health disorders, health and well-being. Teaches students to both use and critically examine the DSM 5TR. Special attention devoted to the assessment and diagnosis of addiction. Course Codes: AB. Prerequisite: PSY.Q 110.
