MTH 457 - Curriculum Methodology: Middle and High School


This course in Mathematics (grades 7-12) emphasizes assessment, New York State Learning Standards, curriculum, lesson planning, unit planning, strategies, methods, and materials. Students will analyze mathematical behavior and problem solving, examine the latest thinking regarding school mathematics, explore the uses of technology to enhance mathematics learning and teaching, and plan and teach mini-lessons demonstrating instructional competence. Includes differentiated instruction, interdisciplinary learning and collaborative models for teaching in an inclusive classroom. Prereq: ADOL*410 with grade of C or better. 40 hours of fieldwork required in greater Rochester area secondary schools during daytime instruction. All placements are made by Program Director, Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships. Students provide their own transportation.
