HIS 413 - Natural Disasters in American Society This course examines extreme events to reveal the inner dynamics of American society and its political system. Learners will explore how natural disasters illuminate and reshape social structures and act as a focusing event for public policy. Topics include global warming, environmentalism, domestic policy, the American presidency, race, class, gender, first responders, non-governmental organizations, emergency management, public policy, and FEMA.
