ENGL 340 - Cinema Studies

This course surveys the history of narrative cinema in the U.S. from its 1890s origins to the present. Beginning with short, silent, black-and-white films and working through the introductions of sound and color we examine representative films in terms of their themes, techniques and ideologies.
