Finance - Major

The B.S. in Finance will offer the student a well rounded education central to Nazareth’s mission and will enable the student to develop skills necessary for the pursuit of a meaningful career in finance. Further, the major will remain consistent with the Mission of the School of Business and Leadership to prepare the students to become responsible leaders with the ability to contribute sustainable value for both business and society. The objective of the Finance program is to prepare students for a professional career in a variety of finance concentrations. Students interested in the field of financial planning have the option of adding the CFP Board approved Financial Planning  minor.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will integrate and utilize principles from the various business disciplines when applying a financial focus to organizational problems or opportunities.
  2. Students will demonstrate an understanding of how to procure, allocate and manage financial resources required to meet organizational objectives.
  3. Students will demonstrate the ability to identify and assess economic and business climate factors that impact financial performance.
  4. Students will be able to demonstrate, orally and/or in writing, the appropriate application of financial theory, analytical tools and modeling to aid them in making optimal financial decisions. 

Completion of a B.S. in Finance requires a minimum GPA of 2.7 in all coursework required for the Finance major, as well as an overall GPA of 2.7. Note - Finance majors are not able to double major in Business Management.

Core Curriculum Requirements


All Nazareth students complete Core Curriculum coursework as part of their degree requirements. The Core provides a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences while guiding students to pose and explore their own intellectual questions.
