Music Theatre - Major

Return to: Academic Programs A-Z
The Bachelor of Science degree provides students with a
strong foundation in the liberal arts while affording them the ability to
fulfill a range of studio requirements in dance, music, and theatre
performance. Students will perform in a
musical production at least once yearly.
The program culminates with a senior seminar which includes a final
recital or project.
The Theatre Arts Department gives a broad but thorough preparation in the
most important areas of theatre, while the college educates students in
varieties of thinking and awareness of the world and its heritages.
The Music Theatre major, housed within the Department of Theatre Arts and in
collaboration with the Department of Music, will incorporate the newly
developed Dance component. The
department expects its majors to be committed seriously to all of their
courses. It further expects a commitment to the Music Theatre program and to
the maintenance of a positive, cooperative attitude among students and their
co-workers and teachers - particularly in production work.
Because this is a new program with the first cohort of Music Theatre
students entering in the fall of 2004, some of the courses that are
unique to this program are not yet in place. Courses for this major
will be added one semester at a time as the first cohort of students
progresses through the program. All courses for this program should be
in place by spring 2008.
