Initial Certification for Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities

This certification requires the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication
Sciences and Disorders. For a complete list of requirements for this

Required Education Courses
The following are required courses in all Education Certification Programs: Required Courses
Additional courses required for NYS Teacher of Students with Speech
and Language Disabilities include the equivalent of at least two
semesters college-level study of a language other than English. As well

Initial Certification Requirements
To be eligible for initial certification as Teacher of Students with
Speech and Language Disabilities, a minimum grade of C is required in the
following courses:
