Clinical Lab Sciences - Minor

The minor in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) is available for students in other majors and provides the opportunity to increase literacy in the scientific background and testing that drives modern medical decision making.

Students are required to take the following courses to earn a minor in Clinical Lab Sciences.

CHM.Q 140 - General Chemistry: Molecules, Matter And Mayhem Credits: 3
CHM.Q 140L - General Chemistry: Molecules, Matter and Mayhem Lab Credits: 1
CLS 201 - Laboratory Medicine Credits: 3

CLS Minor Electives

Students must complete 8 credits from the following courses:

BIO 318 - Clinical Microbiology Credits: 3 / plus 1 credit co-requisite lab BIO 318L*
CLS 301 - Clinical Chemistry Credits: 3
CLS 305 - Clinical Blood Banking Credits: 3
CLS 306 - Clinical Hematology Credits: 3
*The CLS specific section of microbiology lab (BIO 318L) is required for the CLS minor.
