Physical Education, Athletics and Intramurals

Nazareth College is a member of the NCAA, Empire 8, ECAC, and UVC.

Women’s intercollegiate teams compete in tennis, volleyball, basketball, swimming and diving, soccer, lacrosse, cross-country, equestrian, golf, softball, track and field, and field hockey. Men’s intercollegiate teams compete in soccer, basketball, swimming and diving, tennis, golf, cross-country, track and field, volleyball, ice hockey, and lacrosse.

Intramural sports very according to student interests. Nazareth has offered volleyball, basketball, softball, flag football, indoor soccer, racquetball, golf, and floor hockey. There are a variety of structured recreation class offerings, including: Total Body Conditioning, Boot Camp, AB-Solute Toning, Zumba, Night Light, SOund, Ashtanga Yoga, Beachbody Strength and Conditioning DVD programs.

Health & Wellness Requirement


As part of the New Core Curriculum, all students must complete the Health & Wellness requirement (one course). There are a variety of ways to meet this requirement, including taking a Yoga wellness class, participating on an athletic team, or completing a course that has been designated as a Health & Wellness course (select HW attribute in NazNet). Transfer students (including those with associate degreees) who have not met the requirement elsewhere must also satisfy this requirement.

Note - the following requirement remains in place for students completing degree requirements under the “old” core:
Two semesters of physical education are required for all Nazareth College students. Transfer students (including those with associate degreees) who have not met the requirement elsewhere must also satisfy this requirement.
