Students completing the accounting major acquire the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as an active member of the profession. Students completing the B.S. in accounting will:
    - Be immersed in a business core curriculum that provides an understanding of economics, management, marketing, technology, finance, and entrepreneurial and global issues.

    - Develop proficiency in the areas of communication (oral and written), critical thinking, and teamwork that will enable them to be skilled professionals.

    - Learn to use sound professional judgment to resolve problems in an analytical and ethical manner.

    - Balance their professional education with studies in the liberal arts to better understand the role of the professional in business and to promote life-long learning and the pursuit of personal growth.

In addition, students completing the B.S. Accounting /M.S. Management will:
    - Meet the requirements to sit for the New York State CPA exam.

    - Be encouraged to pursue an internship in accounting to gain valuable work experience for academic credit.

Please note that for accounting majors, some liberal arts courses taken to satisfy a business requirement will not also satisfy a liberal arts requirement for NYSCPA licensure.  Students are therefore encouraged to work with their advisors to ensure compliance consistent with the 120 credit hour BS degree.
Note: See Minors for list of minors designed to compliment School of Management majors.
