The Bachelor of Science program in Chemistry follows the curriculum established
by the Committee on
Professional Training of the American Chemical Society. Within the
context of a liberal arts background, students are prepared in
chemistry for graduate study or for immediate employment in industrial
positions. Along with the Chemistry major, students may select a minor
in such fields as professional communication (helpful for a career in scientific
writing), mathematics, information technology or
business/management to enhance opportunities in the business world.

Required Courses for Chemistry Majors
In addition to the 56 credit core listed above, all Chemistry majors are required to take the following courses. Elective Courses for Chemistry Majors
Students must include one advanced elective with a laboratory. Students may select a biology course with lab upon approval of department chair. Students with significant summer research experience may use this to satisfy some upper division requirements subject to department chair approval. Freshman Year
