COMM 411 - Contemporary Rhetorical Theory This course is an examination of the key foundational theorists and texts in the field of rhetoric within the 21st century including, but not limited to, works by Ernest Bormann, Kenneth Burke, Janice Hocker Rushing, and Michel Foucault. Students will also analyze the key philosophies of intellectual thought and development which continue to shape the field today including the critical turn, materiality and rhetoric, visual rhetoric, feminist perspectives on rhetoric, queer rhetoric, and the relationship between rhetorical theory and cultural studies.
