TSL 665 - Developing Literacy With English Language Learners

The purpose of this course is to gain familiarity with current theories and practices in the development of English literacy for students of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The course provides strategies for creating literacy experiences for English Language Learners through exploration, inquiry and interaction. Successful reading and writing techniques and materials for English Language Learners will be observed, discussed, evaluated and practiced, with reference to New York State Standards and assessments in English Language Arts.
