TSL 650 - Linguistics


An introduction to the study of language relevant to the teaching of ESOL, including theories of first and second language acquisition, universal features of language, and the history of language. Students will investigate a topic or contemporary issue within the field of applied linguistics through a field-based project which relates linguistic concepts to the teaching and learning of ESOL. A substantial field experience of at least two days or the equivalent in an educational setting serving English Language Learners is a required component of this course.
