RES 217 - Eyewitnesses to Genocide: Ethical Dilemmas and Religious Challenges


(DEIB) Primary source materials (survivor testimony, art, poetry, theater, propaganda posters, and music) trace the lived-experiences of survivors, perpetrators, bystanders, rescuers, and resisters. Special attention is given to the origin and development of genocide as a term; religion’s role in promoting and preventing genocide; the intersection of race and ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, age and ability, nationalism and violence; and genocide prevention strategies.
