ENGL.Q 110 - Boundaries of the Human (Perspectives Enduring Questions) This course explores the theme of Boundaries of the Human through close reading and literary analysis of at least two forms, with attention to the multiple possibilities for and modes of interpretation. What does it mean to be human? How is human distinct from inanimate? from animal? from alien forms? from monster? What are the limits of human knowledge, sensation, imagination? Students will emerge from the course able to discuss enduring questions about the Boundaries of the Human through exposure to and practice of the fundamental concepts and skills of literary analysis. The course is an invitation to students to college literary study, with an eye to cultivating a lifetime practice of literary understanding and appreciation.
Prerequisites & Notes Course Codes: BR. Prereq: ENGW*101. This P-EQ course counts as a PI and G course.
