SWK 470 - Professional Ethics


Ethical behavior is rooted in moral philosophy. This course is intended to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate an in-depth ability to apply ethical theory, rank-ordering, and ethical reasoning to ethical dilemmas in professional practice by examining moral philosophy and critically reflecting on one’s own value system. Course content will highlight contemporary professional issues in human services settings (e.g. confidentiality, privileged communication, boundaries, conflict of interest, dual and multiple relationships) as well as examining contemporary moral issues of interest to students (e.g. death penalty).
