NSG 514 - Clinical Decision Making & the Older Adult I The focus of this course is an in-depth examination of the pathology, pathophysiology, and clinical decisions related to complex physical, psychological, developmental, social, cultural and spiritual responses to acute and chronic illness and efforts to promote holistic health. Emphasis is on critical thinking, diagnostic reasoning, and clinical decision making in the provision of culturally congruent care to the older adult. Issues related to systemic interrelationships are incorporated. Systems/ topics covered in this course are: cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, respiratory, endocrine/ metabolic, gastrointestinal, urinary/reproductive and hemotologic/immune acute and chronic illness, as well as syndromes associated with infection, women’s health and failure to thrive.
