PTR 652 - Clinical Education Experience IV

This is a supervised sixteen to eighteen week clinical educational experience provided in two approved agencies (one must be an acute care hospital).  Supervision is provided by a licensed physical therapist (clinical instructor) who assists the student in the final transition to a professional.  This setting avails itself to ultimate achievement and success in translating didactic knowledge into practical use.  At this point, the student should demonstrate entry-level competencies in evaluation, documentation, goal setting, treatment, and modification of treatment (based on self-evaluation).  Interpersonal skills should be advanced to the point of successfully dealing with difficult patients and staff alike. Maturity and professionalism should be displayed at all times.  It is preferable that students participate in administrative activities while simultaneously maintaining an active caseload. The student is expected to successfully demonstrate effective time management and delegation of duties to subordinates.  Students are expected to develop a comprehensive case profile and in-service program with the clinical instructor’s approval.  Journal keeping is required.
