SMD 640 - Seminar in Learning Standards, Alternate Performance Indicators, and Assessments For Students With Significant Disabilities The New
York State alternative learning
standards, alternate
performance indicators, and
assessments for students with
significant
disabilities will provide the
framework for this
course. The course will address diverse
approaches to the evaluation,
assessment, and
diagnosis of learners with
significant
disabilities. The use of instructional and
assistive technology in the
education of students
with significant disabilities
will be explored.
Participants will collaborate
with educators,
related service providers,
families, and students
with significant disabilities
in the design of
a learning standards-based
assessment with
recommendations for assisting
students in
achieving their maximum
potential, independence,
and contribution to
society. 15 hours fieldwork
required.
