WMS 302 - PII Gender and Education

This course explores the ways in which the practices of Western schooling and theories of education interested with the practices of gender in Western culture. The course will introduce students to the ways in which cultural beliefs about gender  and sex are infused in schooling, and it will help students investigate how their own educational experiences and gender identities have shaped each other. The course will also investigate how political and social forces help to shape the ways gender is  addressed–and not addressed–in schools.
