The mathematics major is designed for students who want a solid mathematical background for a broad range of career options and graduate work. Many math majors have minors or double majors. This program consists of 40 credits of mathematics, including Real Analysis and Abstract Algebra. Students also take one semester of physics (calculus-based) and one semester of mathematical programming.
Students are officially accepted into the mathematics major after completion of MTH 220, Introduction to Mathematical Structures, with a grade of C or better. All mathematics majors must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, both in the major and overall.
