Education: Initial Certification for Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities

This certification requires the Bachelor’s Degree in communication sciences and disorders.

The following are required courses in all Education Certification Programs:

Required Courses

Additional courses required for NYS Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities include the equivalent of at least two semesters college-level study of a language other than English. As well as:

CSD 360 - Introduction to Methods of Speech- Language-Hearing Therapy Credits: 2
CSD 361 - Methods of Speech-Language-Hearing Therapy Credits: 2

Taken twice - Minimum grade of B required

Initial Certification Requirements

To be eligible for initial certification as Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities, a minimum grade of B is required in the following courses:
