 Chemistry Major with Adolescence Education  |

				The Bachelor of Science program in chemistry with adolescence education prepares students for the initial certification requirements of the New York State Department of Education for Adolescence Education. Students who have completed all baccalaureate requirements with a minimum GPA of 2.7 in each required course of their certification program, who have demonstrated professional competence, and who have successfully completed the New York State teacher certification examinations will be eligible for initial certification. 
 Graduates of this program are also prepared for advanced studies in chemistry, or employment in chemical laboratories.

													| Chemistry Core
 All students majoring in a program of the Department of Chemistry take the following courses: Required Courses for Chemistry Majors with Adolescence Education
 In addition to the 55 credit core listed above, all Chemistry majors with Adolescence Education are required to take the following:  Two Semesters of Modern Foreign Language Credits:6Any science course, with a Laboratory, other than CHM or PHYElective Courses for Chemistry Majors with Adolecence Education
 Four credits of upper division chemistry electives are required. Two  credits of laboratory are required in order to obtain American Chemical Society approval.Chemistry Senior Experience
 This course seeks to integrate the technical aspects of chemistry with the ability to communicate scientific information effectively. To achieve this goal, students are assigned a topic of current scientific interest that combines chemistry with other disciplines in order to answer some fundamental question. Students demonstrate their ability to independently research and communicate their findings in a professional manner to an audience of their peers and faculty.
