Legal Studies - Minor

Return to: College of Arts and Sciences
The Legal Studies Minor is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the law, either as lawyers or legal assistants. It may also be of interest to students interested in careers or fields of graduate study where some background in law is beneficial, such as business, administration, and public service. The Minor is open to students from all majors. The American Bar Association recommends that undergraduate students interested in law school should major in a discipline in which they can excel and find satisfaction. It also recommends that, regardless of the major chosen, a student should select courses that emphasize the skills of verbal and written comprehension and expression, a critical understanding of human institutions and the values with which the law deals, and the creative power of thinking. To enhance the mastery of these skills, the Legal Studies Minor program includes courses in logic, rhetoric, history, political science, and the law. Interested students should contact the Pre-Law Advisor, Dr. Olena Prokopovych, by e-mail at oprokop5@naz.edu, by phone at (585) 389 2495, or at her office in Golisano Academic Center 458.
