The Honors Program at Nazareth University engages a community of student-scholars in an interdisciplinary program of study in order to foster a commitment to ongoing intellectual curiosity, build leadership in local and global communities, and develop the skills and knowledge to address the complex issues facing our world.
Students need to maintain a 3.5 GPA to continue in the program, plus completion of 18 credits to fulfill Honors Program requirements. See full description of the GPA Requirement and Probation Policy.
Honors Program Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate exceptional intellectual curiosity about a complex interdisciplinary topic.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate complex information, both orally and through writing.
- Contribute to making meaningful positive change in the local and/or global community.

Honors Foundation Courses
Students complete 9 credits of Honors Foundation Courses. Track Options
Students select the Research Scholar, Engagement Scholar, or Global Scholar track and complete 9 credits of coursework within their track. Note: the course lists below are not exhaustive and other courses may be considered to meet the specific requirements with approval of the Honors director. Research Scholar
Develop expertise in research and writing, culminating in an original interdisciplinary thesis capstone project or creative research capstone project. Includes research methods and interdisciplinary courses, as well as a mentorship component (such as serving as an ACS Peer Mentor, on an Honors Panel, or as a representative at Admissions events). Engagement Scholar
Make significant impacts to the community by designing and planning a community-focused capstone project. Includes upper-level service learning/community-focused courses or clinical/practicum, sustained community engagement, and a service trip. Engage deeply with global communities, research, and create a globally-focused capstone project. World Language & Culture Coursework - Complete six credits of world languages courses 200 or higher (labs excluded); subjects include Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish
