INCH 511 - Mathematics: Curriculum and Methodology for Inclusive Childhood This course combines a study of the function and organization of the childhood-level mathematics curriculum and the integration of curriculum, with a survey of current teaching resources and research-based strategies to address the learning needs of diverse learners in mathematics. Students will study the development of mathematical skills and concepts through the use of manipulatives and abstract materials, with emphasis on the intuitive and inquiry methods, as per NCTM. Students will design learning units that address the New York State Learning Standards in mathematics. This course integrates the use of instructional and assistive technology. 15 hours fieldwork required. Prerequisites: INCL 501 and INCL 502 OR INCL 601 and INCL 602. Additional pre- or corequisite for students in initial certification program: EDTS 523.
