RES 352G - Love and Beauty in Mystical Islam This course investigates the nature of love and beauty in Sufism as a mystical tradition of Islam. The Sufi way of love and beauty is deeply rooted in Sufi orders and rituals. Students read literary selections on love and beauty from well known Sufi mystics such as Al Ghazzali, Rumi, Ibn Arabi and Hafiz. The course also covers topics such as the influence of Sufism on both the East and the West; Sufism and the role of women; Sufi compatibility with orthodox Islam, Sufi sprituality and its relation to Jewish, Christian, Hindu and Buddhist mysticism.
