PTR 520 - Professional Development I This is the first in a series of five courses with a comprehensive and contemporary foundation in the issues pertinent to the physical therapy profession. This course explores the history of the profession, the scope of practice (legal and ethical), and education in the profession. It introduces the students to professional values and behavior, including communication and feedback techniques, and the assessment of professional behavior. Students will also gain an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the profession from such documents as Core Values of the Profession and Professional Behaviors for the 21st Century. Prerequisites & Notes This is an on-line, distance learning course. Students are expected to participate from the first day of classes. An online course is best suited to students who are self-directed and very familiar with Moodle and other computer technology.
