ANT 338 - Linguistic Anthropology An introduction to the study of the human ability to produce and comprehend language, properties of human languages and to their systematic study in the field of linguistics and communication. This course considers how the study of language helps us understand human prehistory as well as cultural and social factors involved in the use of language and communication. This course is also a basic introduction to the field of linguistic anthropology with special emphasis on language as a basic component of human culture and offers an overview of what the study of language contributes to our understanding of human communication. Course Codes: BR. Prereqs: ANT 101.Q or ANT 102, plus ENGW 101 & 102 or equivalent.
