DSP 596 - Language, Literacy, and Communication in School-age Deaf and HOH Students

This course will address speech and language skills of DHOH students in grade school and the impact on social and academic success. The primary focus will be on language and literacy assessment and instruction. We will consider the influence of spoken English, sign language, and Cued Speech on literacy development. Individual differences related to disability and cultural and linguistic diversity will be addressed.
