HIS.Q 102 - Western Civilization II


This survey of Western Civilization will be both chronological and thematic. The course will highlight the major cultures, ideas, people and events that shaped European history from the late Middle Ages to the early nineteenth century. We will pay particular attention to paradigms of culture and the paradigm shifts that caused the formative events of early modern Europe. Topics include the Black Death, the Hundred Years War, the Renaissance and Reformation, the Scientific Revolution and the political revolutions of the Enlightenment era.
