INCH 410 - Diversity and Inclusion for Inclusive Early Childhood and Childhood Classrooms Pre-service teacher candidates will build their foundational knowledge about theory, issues, laws, and teaching strategies that lead to informed practice in inclusive classrooms. This course will address legal provisions and ethical principles regarding appropriate assessment of individuals, the use and limitations of assessment instruments, and the necessity for collaboration with families and other educators in the assessment process. Pre-service teacher candidates will also be invited to examine how and why some of the life experiences, socialization patterns, worldviews, and the cultural identity development of students may be inconsistent with their own. Must be taken concurrently with INCH 411.
Prerequisites & Notes Course Codes: AFL. Prereq: INCH*310, INCH*320, EDU*080, INCH*380, INCH*390. Coreq: INCH*411. Must be accepted in the Inclusive Early Childhood/Childhood Educaiton major to register for this course. Subject to alternate refund policy based on start date. *Formerly INCH*440.
