SWK 309G - Human Rights/Social Justice

(Global course) It has been sixty years since the development of the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This course will discuss the impact of this document on the global community. We will investigate the links between human rights and social justice, how social structures shape our world, our environment, and our lives and how historical and theoretical perspectives of human rights and social justice impact us today. We will examine the influence of social ecology and its relationship to culture, diversity, oppression, and equality and how we can become active participants in promoting rights and justice both from a local and global vantage point.
