RES 333 - PII Peace and Justice


(Perspectives II course) Contemporary peace and justice issues viewed from a variety of religious and ethical perspectives. Topics include defining “peace” and “justice”; examining the testimony of “witnesses” for justice and peace and the ways they embody the relationship between spirituality and compassion; identifying the principles of social justice embodied in the lives and expressed in the writings of these “witnesses”; and, in the light of these principles, examining some of the urgent social issues of our day, such as poverty, discrimination, and war. Special attention to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
